Chopped hazelnuts (filberts)
May 15, 2013
When I first started shopping for hazelnuts I looked at the ones in the shells. I found the chopped ones and figured that it was cheaper to buy them because I didn't have to buy the shells too. I haven't yet made anything with them, but have some recipes that I want to try. The postage was so reasonable. They arrived much quicker than I thought. Hazelnuts are my favorite too.

Ground Hazelnuts
April 11, 2013
Takes the time, effort, and burnt hands out of flourless cake baking!
Pros
  • The price was excellent for a product that is often much more costly. It arrived immediately, in time to make a delicious cake for Passover. And with a birthday coming, my daughter will get to enjoy her favorite cake again. Perfectly ground with no visible skin flakes.

So Easy
December 30, 2012
I love to bake, and cook with toasted, chopped hazelnuts but won't go through all the work of shelling, toasting, peeling and chopping them so I'm delighted they're available. While I like using pecans or walnuts in cookies, it adds so much variety and interest when they're made with hazelnuts instead. I like rolling truffles in these nuts as well as basking them into cookies then drizzling a glaze over and topping them with more nuts. They're also good as a topping for asparagus or mixed into green beans. I gave them only 4 stars instead of 5 because of the number that become more ground on the outer portion of the package. Of course, the ground ones are also good.
Pros
  • Ease of use
  • Taste
Cons
  • The outer ones in the package become ground rather than all being chopped

A First for Cookie Convenience
December 12, 2012
My wife and office look forward to Christmas time since it is the one time a year that I make my Filbert cookies. This was the first year that I did not have to sweat hours cracking filberts and grinding them so as not to lose the natural oils and essence . . . it was so convenient that i may make them a few times a year and make everyone happy.
Pros
  • Every thing!
Cons
  • Nothing!

Great Nuts!
September 12, 2012
I needed chopped and roasted hazelnuts (filberts) for a new recipe I was trying. I tried to do it myself with nuts from the baking section of the grocery store. I tried to get the skin off them by blanching them. HA! That doesn't work so well. And they're too little to peel! I looked and found Nuts in Bulk, and they had just what I needed: a one pound bag of roasted and chopped -- and ready to use with no hassle -- filberts! (hazelnuts). Not only were they perfect for baking, but they tasted absolutely delicious. They're also packed in a resealable bag. Hooray! They keep! They were perfect for the recipe, and I had to keep reminding myself that I can only eat small amounts of nuts, or the bag would already be gone! Thank you, Nuts in Bulk!
Pros
  • Taste, ease of use in recipes, fast shipping (almost instant). Chopped to just the right size and already roasted so I didn't need to toast them.
Cons
  • Well. That's harder. I thought the price was about right, but I'd have been willing to wait a little longer and pay less for the shipping.

Chopped Hazelnuts
August 3, 2012
The order was handled in very timely manner on your part but the local post office delayed the delivery till 4:30 p.m. on the day I was taking my dessert that called for the nuts and so I had to substitute peacans.
I felt the nuts were ground a little too fine. I would have preferred them coarser and I could have adjusted the texture to to my needs.
Pros
  • Promptness
Cons
  • chopped too fine

I used them to bake into one of my specialty breads: with dark chocolate, white whole wheat flour and rye flour. It made a healthy version of Nutella, and it got rave reviews.
Pros
  • Taste, and that they were already ground up.
Cons
  • Nothing
